Coming out of Nigeria’s valiant effort against England, the consensus seems to be that Randy Waldrum has earned the right to continue in the Super Falcons’ role. I’m not entirely convinced…
I'm not entirely sure, to be perfectly honest. However, 'he did well at the World Cup' seems to me a quite unsatisfactory reason, and since it's the most convincing argument for, I'm leaning a bit more toward letting him go.
I agree with you. However, I'm concerned that relieving him of his duties a few months (or weeks) before the WAFCON and Olympics qualifiers would be a huge risk. Firstly, because he looks to have the support and trust of his players (probably due to the fact that he is very vocal on their behalf, as you've rightly pointed out). And secondly, because it might disorganize the "structure, system, and shape" he seemed to have built in the team.
Finding a coach with the right profile who is willing to build on or improve the team this close to the qualifiers might be difficult. Just my thoughts, though.
Wonderful piece. Spoke exactly my mind
Great piece by the way. Well analyzed.
So which do you pick? Renew or let him go?
