I see you have an affinity for the comma after "that", in the middle of sentence, as used in: “The 3-5-2 was a system that, with no reliable wingers available, made sense….” I never knew that was a “thing,” but a google search has opened my eyes. Although, I have seen arguments in favour of getting rid of first and second comma after the “that”.
That aside, the football analysis is very insightful. I particularly like the historical anecdotes and references you use to buttress your point. The Ancelotti one, I must say, sold me.
